Orientation & Networking Fundamentals
Orientation, tools, safety and essential electrical knowledge
Outcome: Recognise hand tools, DC supply ratings, polarity, safe isolation, test equipment; know when qualified personnel are required
Trainer: Tool demonstration, low-voltage multimeter readings, PPE and workplace safety drill
Independent task: Identify tools and measure labelled low-voltage supplies; complete a hazard checklist
Evidence: Uses a multimeter safely and explains limits of trainee work
Introduction to networks and components
Outcome: Understand network purpose, modem/ONT, router, switch, access point and end devices
Trainer: Build and label a sample LAN topology with real equipment
Independent task: Draw, label and reconnect the demonstrated topology
Evidence: Correctly identifies devices and connections
Cables, LAN, routers and switches
Outcome: Identify UTP cable types, RJ45, ports, PoE concepts and physical LAN layout
Trainer: Trace physical connections among router, switch and clients
Independent task: Trace and label a rack/desk network; check link lights
Evidence: Correct cable/port selection and coherent connection map
